Research and Clinical Interests

My current research at the University of Connecticut focuses on Autism Spectrum Disorder in toddlers and young adults. As part of Dr. Deborah Fein and Dr. Marianne Barton’s Early Detection Lab, I conduct ASD evaluations with 2-4 year olds and participate in research on a variety of subjects related to the early detection of ASD. In particular, I am interested in symptoms on screening and diagnostic instruments that distinguish ASD from global developmental delay in toddlers, and behavioral features that inform initial diagnostic impressions of ASD. I am also participating in a project to revise an online parent training intervention with the goal of studying predictors of change in parent and child behavior in low resource families of color. As part of Dr. Inge-Marie Eigsti’s Connecticut Autism and Language Lab, I work on the ASD Long-Term Outcomes Study (ALTOS) and conduct ASD evaluations in-person and via telehealth with adolescents and young adults. I am currently working on two smaller projects with Dr. Eigsti, including an evaluation of the online administration of the ADOS-2 Module 4, and a study looking at latency to respond to conversational bids in young adults with ASD.

In addition to my Clinical Psychology coursework, I finished the requirements of the Neuropsychology Concentration, with a focus on complex, pediatric cases. I have completed external practicum in neuropsychology at Butler Hospital on the Adolescent In-Patient Unit with Dr. Karen Holler, and in the Pediatric Neuropsychology Clinic at Rhode Island Hospital with Dr. Christine Trask. I am currently completing a practicum at the Worcester VA Clinic with Dr. Lee Ashendorf.
